    Chaberton Fortress
Built in 1898, the Chaberton Fortress is located at an altitude of 3,130 m (10,270 ft) and is said to be the highest fortress in Europe. Manned until 1944, eight towers remain, plus an uncomfortable-looking barracks. From the top enjoy views of the Alta Valle Dora, Monginevro plain and the Briancon dell.

    Forte di Fenestrelle

This huge fortress appears as a massive staircase heading up the mountain, suitable for giants. A mass of three forts, seven secondary fortifications, 4,000 stairs, 14 walkways and 5 drawbridges, the Fort of Fenestrelle took 122 years to complete. Inside is a museum, several chapels and examples of weaponry and military might.Send an Email Send an Email

    Forte di Exilles
Seemingly an extension of the mountain it stands on, the Fortress of Exilles dates back to 1155, but was mostly destroyed by the French in 1796. Rebuilt in the early 19th century, the building now houses a museum. Appointments for tours are necessary. Climb to the top of the garrets for an exceptional view of the mountains and valley.
